INANAM – Twenty-one pints of blood was collected during a blood donation programme organised by Caritas of the St Catherine’s Church, Inanam on Sunday Apr 21.
Caritas chairperson Flora Juanis Sallemuda said 41 donors responded to their campaign held at the Inanam Parish’s Fr Joseph Dapoz Hall.
“We organised this blood donation campaign for the Tambunan Hospital’s blood bank,” said Flora.
She said the campaign was one of the Church’s Caritas Committee activities.
“As a Church ordered service to the community, we organised programmes to help, give assistance to the needy,” Flora added.
She also disclosed that her committee was working closely with the various Catholic Community Committees of the churches and chapels under the Inanam Parish’s jurisdiction in reaching out Catholics in needs of assistance.
Flora said they had rendered assistance to Catholics whose houses were razed, those indisposed and the poor.
They also reached out to migrants workers who needed help in adjusting living in places far away from their country.
Most of the Indonesian migrants, who are Catholics, are regularly attending masses at the Churches and Chapel in the Inanam Parish areas.
