KENINGAU – Caunselors and youth leaders from the three arch/diocese of Sabah gathered for two days to discuss about Sabah Youth Day 6 (SYD6) Oct 17-18 at Keningau Diocesan Retreat House in Tatal.
Those present from the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu were Fr Wiandigool Runsab (Assistant Spiritual Advisor), Sr Terry Loukang, FSIC (Youth Coordinator), Sr Edora Ignatius, FSIC and Christina David. Keningau Diocese was represented by Fr Ronnie Luni (Spiritual Advisor), Roney Alfred Eming (Coordinator), Sr Liza, FSIC, Felsie Felix and Juanis Marcus from the Youth Commission Team. Meanwhile Fr Dafrin Diwol (Spiritual Advisor) and sr Neomi Meija, FSIC (Coordinator) came as representatives from Sandakan Diocese.
On the first day, the meeting focused more on refining ideas on SYD6 rationale, objectives and theological reflections expressed at previous meeting in Bundu Tuhan Retreat Centre, Ranau.
The rationale of SYD6 is to explore extensively the skills, ability and youths’ personality in the aspects of physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social or in short, JERIS.
One of the objectives decided in the meeting was that the SYD6 participants realize, appreciate and accept themselves as God’s beautiful creation.
On the second day, the team presented the outcome of the meeting to Bishop Cornelius Piong, as the host of the event. “Everything is very clear and continue planning,” said the prelate with confidence.
Almost all expressed confidence that the planning of SYD6 will bear fruit. Hopefully the seed of ideas borne from this meeting of mentors and youth leaders will continue to flourish through implementation later.
