BAU, Sarawak — The St Stephen’s Church compound came alive with parishioners from the 49 churches who came in a show of unity to this year’s Parish Sale.
More than 2,000 people visited the stalls lined up at the car park transforming the space into an instant vibrant marketplace.
This year’s event with the theme, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”, marked a milestone with the sale being conducted on a grander scale. For the first time it included a live band that entertained the crowd and lucky draws, offering a Perodua Bezza as the grand prize.
Each of the 49 churches had diligently set up their stalls selling homemade foods, handicrafts, jungle produce, artworks, barbeques and drinks. There was even a photo booth.
The Catholic Nurses Guild organised free health screening and the Parish Youth Ministry assisted with the promotional, entertainment and sales of essential goods.
Proceeds from this year’s Parish Sale are to support activities in 2025, Church maintenance and outreach programmes for the community. – Today’s Catholic
