Fr Sandesh Manuel, a Franciscan priest originally from Bangalore, India, has captured the hearts of many with his unconventional approach to ministry.
Through Instagram, YouTube, and a passion for music, Father Manuel has become a modern spiritual influencer, or as he describes himself, a “sensefluencer,” according to a report by Catholic Connect.
His creative outreach aims to bridge the gap between the Church and today’s youth, a mission inspired by the teachings of Jesus and St Francis of Assisi.
In an interview with Catholic Connect, Father Manuel shared the roots of his vocation.
“Growing up in a devout Christian family, I attended Merrimackle School and St Joseph’s Indian High School, followed by Christ College for my pre-university education. Initially aspiring to be a doctor, I found myself questioning life’s deeper meanings, such as the purpose of suffering and existence itself,” he recalled.
This philosophical curiosity led him to the Franciscans, a path he embarked on 26 years ago before being ordained in 2009.
