INANAM – St Catherine Church is possibly one of the few parishes who celebrated Migrants Sunday this year Sep 25. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Building a future together with migrants and refugees” and were attended by close to 300 migrants who were mostly Indonesian and some Filipinos.
The migrant parishioners participate actively by serving as the choir, readers and some served during the collections together with the local parishioners. Fr Matheus Luta, one of the assistant priests for St Catherine Church, celebrated the Holy Mass. The choir comprising almost 100% migrants also sang Kadazan Dusun songs showing that they already understand the dialect of the local parishioners.
After the Mass, the congregation proceeded to Joseph Dapoz’s Hall for the fellowship and various performances from the migrants’ community.
