IPOH – The parish community of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes (OLOL) were filled with joy as they witnessed Cardinal Sebastian Francis lead the ground blessing and ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Chapel of Christ the King (CTK) recently.
The Chapel of Christ the King, which is under the purview of OLOL parish, was established in 1986 at Buntong Tiga, Ipoh beside the Ipoh-Lumut highway. Due to its proximity to the highway, the government offered an alternative piece of land for a new chapel to be built.
The ground-breaking ceremony, held on Nov 5, drew a congregation of faithful believers and community members eager to witness the symbolic commencement of construction.
Cardinal Sebastian led the proceedings, offering prayers and blessings for the success and divine protection of the upcoming construction. Present at the ceremony was OLOL parish priest, Fr Robert Daniel, and deacons Sandnasamy Peter and George Vaithynathan. Also present was Fr Michael Dass, parish priest of the Church of St Joseph, Batu Gajah.
The Chapel of Christ the King is poised to be a testament to the enduring spirit of OLOL parish and its commitment to fostering spiritual growth and community development. The ceremony concluded with a call for continued support from the congregation and the broader community, emphasising the collective responsibility in realising the vision of the chapel.
The Church community looks forward to the day when the doors of the chapel will be opened, welcoming all to experience the divine presence within its sacred walls.
