AS the endemic settles in, Stella Maris parish joyfully opens its doors for the return of Catechetical Classes.
The first day was met with children and parents at the registration counter as they scrolled down the list of names for their designated classes with anticipation.
Catechetical Classes of Joyful Weekend Gathering (JWG) for the lower and higher level began in June, with each level having physical classes on alternate Sundays. This arrangement was encouraged by assistant parish priest, Fr Peter Abas for better crowd control to keep in line with the SOP.
He asked that everyone be patient with the new setup as we slowly open up activities in the parish one at a time.
He also encouraged all teachers to have online classes on Sundays whenever there is no physical classes so that the catechism classes will not be disrupted and can continue every week.
Pertina Madusin, while waiting in line to check for her son’s name, said she was glad that physical classes have finally began because her son was asking questions about faith that even she could not answer.
Another parent mentioned that he was afraid the two-year absence of physical class was going to discourage his children from attending Mass and church events.
The newly elected Catechetical Coordinator, Arthur Asai, informed that because the classes have started late in the year, the lessons would focus mainly towards making them fun to create and stir excitement in the children and teens to come back to church again.
