TANJUNG ARU – Stella Maris Church will reopen for public Mass on August 2, after being closed for almost five months during the MCO, CMCO and RMCO, imposed by the government to curb the outbreak of the COVID-19.
Though the green light has been given for people to return to church and public Mass, it must be done with caution, following strict protocol guided by the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) approved by the authorities.
For the reopening of Mass at Stella Maris Church, a parish health team (PHT), led by Parish Pastoral Council chairman Ben Wong, has been set up to oversee the compliance of the SOP. As part of our preparation, the Church’s SOP guideline will be further refined on Jul 18, as well as the finalization of the protocol plan.
Registration for parishioners will be held on Jul 25-26, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, at St Matthew’s Room, Catechetical Centre. Registration for attending Mass is to be made by the head of the family. He/She is allowed to register their family members who are between the ages of 13 to 69 years. There will be no registration via Facebook, WhatsApp, personal messaging, or the Parish Admin Office. Registration will be done ONLY during the date and time given. All are encouraged to abide by the SOP which the Church has regulated.
Meanwhile, training on SOP compliance is scheduled on Jul 26 while disinfection as per the SOP will be done on Aug 2, before and after 8.00 am Sunday Mass (English).
