KOTA KINABALU – After a long absence of two years due to the pandemic, the annual Children Christmas Party was finally held again, Dec 17, at Parish Hall of Sacred Heart Cathedral.
With more than 400 registered children, it showed how much families are beginning to show confidence in returning to normalcy over time as the nation enters into endemicity of COVID-19.
Also present was parish priest, Fr Paul Lo, who not only graced the event but also delivered a short catechesis on the meaning of Christmas. All children returned home with special “gifts” of the four words related to Christmas, namely Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

In many ways, it was more than just another party. It was also an opportunity to thank our Heavenly Father for allowing this event to return back, just as it was traditionally.
The children not only played together but also prayed and ate together. Other activities included were colouring, games, group dancing, and presentation of gifts to all the children.

Carlos Cordova, organising chairman, said that it is important for parents to encourage their children to join activities organised by the Church or any groups (ministries) as it will help them in their spiritual growth, and be attached to the Church with the spirit of love and unity. He went on to say that furthermore the children will one day be our future leaders in the various ministries in the Church.
Social Ministry Committee of Sacred Heart Cathedral thanked the Parish Office and all volunteers who helped to coordinate the event and contributed selflessly to the success of the party.
