KARAMUNSING – The First Friday Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral has resumed after a four-month pause brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was presided by Fr Russell Lawrine.
A score of parishioners attended the devotion on Aug 7, the first Friday in August decided by the parish to reopen since the lockdown on Mar 18. The protocol required by the SOP during the RMCO was fully observed, which mandates the use of face mask, hand sanitizing, temperature scan, contact tracing and social distancing. The restriction of elderly over 70 years old and children below 12 from participating in the Mass is also observed. However, no registration is required for it, unlike the compulsory registration for Sunday Mass.
The First Friday Mass devotions are a set of Catholic devotions to especially recognize the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and through it offer reparations for sins.
Especially during these uncertain times of the post COVID-19, First Friday devotions offer you an opportunity to encounter the Lord more than just on Sundays, and to deepen our love of Him so as to take rest and to place our anxieties within the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
